L003 – Cable drum
CABLE DRUM with length measurement
3 meter max. measuring length
Slip ring 4-pole
Description
GENEREL
This system is used for measuring length, inclination, and speed. It can also transfer supply voltage and measurement data via a measuring cable. Its primary applications include measuring telescopic arms and booms in cranes, lifting platforms, and controlling stage constructions in event technology.
- Angle Measurement: Achieved through a high-resolution micro-electromechanical inclination system, providing a current or voltage signal at the output (standard version).
- Length Measurement: Utilizes a wire measuring principle. A multicore measuring cable winds around a cable drum with a return spring. For large lengths, a spindle roll guide ensures precise layer-to-layer winding. The number of drum rotations, proportional to the length, is measured using a magnetic angular encoder (optional with voltage or current output).
- Digital Transmitter Systems: These systems can measure both length and inclination. Data is read out in CANopen format, including a redundant version for safety-critical applications (e.g., SIL2 according to IEC 61508).
- Transmission: Measuring data and control signals are transmitted via cable cores within the measuring cable. All electric components are enclosed in an IP65-rated aluminum cast casing.
With regard to their electrical and mechanical characteristics all standard cable drums can – independent of quantities – be adapted to customer-specific requirements and applications.
